    NIHR 2015/16 Research Activity League Table coming soon...

    The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) 2015/16 NHS research Activity League Table, showing the extent of research activity in NHS trusts in England is to be released on Tuesday 25 October 2016. The league table is published annually, and for the first time, will also detail the amount of commercial contract studies being delivered by each NHS trust.

    The NCRI Conference will take place from 6 - 9 November 2016 in Liverpool. The Conference is the UK’s premier annual cancer research meeting attracting around 2000 delegates. This years Conference programme showcases the best in basic science, clinical trials, qualitative research and dataset analysis, and provides a forum for researchers from different disciplines to exchange knowledge and ideas.

    Professor Jane Nixon, Deputy Director of the Leeds Clinical Trials Research Unit, has recently been appointed as an NIHR Senior Investigator. This prestigious award recognises her contribution to research over the last decade.

  • 'Can do' attitude and teamwork achieves debut research first

    North Devon nurses recruited the first patient in the country to an NIHR-funded study using text messaging with the aim of reducing sexually transmitted infections in young people. This achievement was all the more remarkable because it was a research study debut for this Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust team of nurses and health advisers based in a city centre walk in treatment centre.

  • Growing up - CRN Children at 10

    In 2007, the clinical research environment for children underwent a major transformation. The European Union introduced its Paediatric Regulation, which meant that any company developing a drug for adults was legally obliged to consider how it could be developed for children. It’s no coincidence that two years earlier, the NIHR introduced its Medicines for Children Research Network (MCRN).
