About Cancer Research

Cancer is a disease of the cells. Cells in the body work in different ways but most divide, repair and reproduce in the same way. When cells are dividing the process can get out of control, if this occurs a tumour can form. Tumours can be either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). If malignant, the cells could spread beyond the original area of where the tumour began to form through the bloodstream or lymphatic system.

Case studies

  • Engaging global communities in research learning

    Enabling understanding of clinical research and its role in improving healthcare is a core objective in the Network. In 2015 the Network’s Workforce, Learning and Organisational Development team partnered with the Digital Learning team at Leeds University to develop an online course; ‘Improving Healthcare through Clinical Research’. The course is free, and available to anyone wanting to learn about clinical research.
